These switches use a glass-filled nylon housing which can be used in rugged environments. This housing uses a Reed, Triac or Transistor sub.
The most common reed only style switch typically incorporates a 100 VA reed. The Triac style switch uses a semiconductor device in conjunction with a reed to carry higher AC loads. The Transistor style switch uses a transistor in conjunction with a reed to carry higher DC loads. These switches are not prone to being over-ridden by tape, mechanical intervention, dirt, or ice. All switches are built with a UL PVC jacketed cable. A stainless steel hose may be added for additional protection (see Options). UL, CSA Recognized Color-coded wires are used for easy installation. For DC Transistor-style applications: Red Þ +DC, Black Þ -DC
Housing: Glass-Filled Nylon Magnet: 1000 Gauss; 0.375 inch diameter x 1.5 inch long enclosed in housing Cable: 18 AWG with PVC jacket or armored cable Operating Temperature: 14ºF to 140ºF (-10ºC to 60ºC) Shock Resistance: 50g Vibration Resistance: 30g Circuit Protection (Reed-only Style Switch): Additional protection recommended for inductive loads (diode on DC, R-C on AC). Additional protection recommended for capacitive loads (surge suppressors or current limiting resistors). Environment: Suitable for use in class 1, 3R, & 4 applications. Magnet to Switch Activation Distance: 0.5 inch minimum, release 1.5 inch maximum
Reed-Only Style switch 'xx' indicates cable length in feet
Note 1: UL/CSA recognized Note 2: This switch uses 3 reeds in parallel for linear motion applications.
Triac Style switch 'xx' indicates cable length in feet
Note 1: UL/CSA recognized Note 2: Uses stainless steel hose
Transistor Style switch 'xx' indicates cable length in feet
Note 1: UL/CSA recognized
These options may be combined. For example, a switch may have the stainless steel hose and a reverse lead exit. Contact the factory for additional information on how to specify the switch that best fits your application.
Part number: MLT-Zxx Part number (for stainless steel hose option): MLT-Zxx-S (example) 'Z' indicates the sub type used in the switch, and 'xx' indicates the cable length in feet.
